Welfare

School rules aim to ensure each child's safety and learning.  Rules encompass respect for others, playing areas, clothing and safe play.  The rules are displayed in each classroom and the playground, and are featured periodically in the school newsletter.

Birrong has policies regarding school discipline, supervision and bullying.  These policies follow three simple rules:

  • Keep yourself and others safe
  • Respect everyone and everything
  • Learn and let others learn

Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

This is a whole school approach to behaviour management and is aimed at ensuring the fundamental rights of the school community are being met.

At Birrong Public School we are aiming to encourage all members of our school community to:

  • Be aware of and own their own behaviour

  • Respect mutual rights

  • Build workable relationships

The school rules and "I Care" are the means by which our school community will be guided towards achieving these aims.
